Cacao Nibs are a delicious and healthy snack.
Nibs are cacao beans that have been fermented, roasted, winnowed, and lightly crushed. Sueños Chocolate’s nibs are carefully roasted in small batches by hand in traditional clay pots by Yamile Roldan at Finca Sueños. Like all cacao from heirloom 'Nacional' varieties these nibs are smooth, flavorful, floral, and much less bitter than nibs from industrial hybrid cacao trees.
Like other seeds, cacao nibs are sugar-free, full of antioxidants, and high in fat (oleic, stearic and palmitic). They are also high in theobromine (an alkaloid stimulant similar to - but less intense than - caffeine), and essential minerals (phosphorus, magnesium and manganese).
Some of our favorite ways to use nibs are as a delicious and healthy snack on their own, or as an addition to sweet and savory foods such as mole sauces, salads, yogurt, oatmeal, granola, trail mix, smoothies, ice cream and baked goods.
