About Us

Brookford Farm is located off of Route 4 in Rollinsford, NH just before the South Berwick, ME border. Our farm is comprised of 270 acres of certified organic land the cows are pastured on, and another 130 acres of forest. The land has a conservation easement so it can never be developed. Currently we have a small herd of grass-fed cows which produce organic milk.

Between the two of us, we have 16 years of organic farming experience. Luke grew up in New York state and after graduating from college with a degree in anthropology, worked at a small organic CSA farm in Pennsylvania which also employed mentally handicapped individuals. After a couple of seasons he moved to Russia to work on a farm where he tended to pigs, vegetables and made hay.

Catarina is originally from Dresden, East Germany. When the Soviet occupation ended she attended the Waldorf School which her parents helped to build. After completing school, she went to Russia and worked on the farm where she and Luke met. She worked with vegetables and tended herbs. We lived in this farm for five years, during which time out son Oliver was born in St. Petersburg.

When Oliver was two, we moved to a farm in northern Germany. Catarina worked with the vegetables and Luke worked with the dairy herd. Our youngest son, Emanuel, was born here. While at this farm, the idea of running out own farm was brewing. With the aid of the Vermont Land Link website, we found Brookford Farm.

In January 2007 we moved to the new farm in America, and the cows arrived the last day of March. Now after many years working for others, we get a chance to try it on our own. With out background in biodynamic farming, we are committed to the land, the cows and the environment. We are also committed to the community and hope to live here for our entire career. One day, we hope to produce a lot more than just milk.
